2019 Divider 699

At 6,476m Mera Peak offers an expedition mountain experience on one of the highest altitude treks, situated in Nepal’s famous north-eastern Khumbu region and dominated by Mount Everest.

We start our challenge with a flight into Lukla, before trekking through beautiful forested hillsides and over several passes before climbing up to the Mera La. At our base camp we are instructed in the use of ice-axe and crampons before we establish a high camp on the Mera Glacier at 5,800m. The summit climb takes the north face glacier in a steady, exposed and exciting rise to the final ridge and onto the top. After the climb we descend by the direct route across a dramatic ridge to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu for our group celebrations.

Group Challenge Experience

Our Group Challenges are accompanied by UK Leader who ensures that everything runs smoothly, from hotel check-ins to daily activities during the challenge. They are a great sociable experience - you will join a team of no more than 12 people who are all like you! Sign up with friends & family or join on your own. With our Challenge App, you can get to know your team-mates before you depart. The Challenge is then capped off with a great celebration dinner, where you can all toast your success and have fun, with medals and certificates you can take home as a memento.

How hard is the challenge

This is one of our toughest Himalayas Challenges. You should be an able trekker, and preferably have some experience at altitude. This is a long challenge, and you will spend 11 days over 3,000m. This requires good endurance and recovery, and no small amount of mental strength too. You will be supported by our Leader & Medic, with an excellent team of local crew assisting throughout.

The trek is non-technical, meaning you won't require any specialist skills, but you will require some technical mountain equipment, such as plastic mountain boots. You should be prepared to encounter extreme temperatures, and understand the risk of frostbite if you do not use adequate equipment or follow the guidance of our staff.
